A medical corporation authorized and in good standing in another state is eligible to apply for a Certificate of Authorization issued by this Board to practice medicine or podiatric medicine to patients located in West Virginia if the foreign medical corporation shareholders are all licensed physicians (allopathic, osteopathic or podiatric) or physician assistants, and at least one shareholder holds an active status license issued by this Board that is in good standing.
Prior to completing the Board’s foreign medical corporation application, please check with the West Virginia Secretary of State to confirm that the intended name of your corporation complies with state regulations.

The West Virginia Board of Medicine is the sole authority for the issuance of licenses to practice medicine and surgery, to practice podiatry, and to practice as a physician assistant in collaboration with MDs and DPMs in the State of West Virginia, and is the regulatory and disciplinary body for medical doctors, podiatric physicians and their physician assistants.
