Physician Assistant License Renewal
All physician assistant licenses issued by the Board are scheduled to expire at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on March 31, 2025. Physician assistants who wish to maintain licensure must successfully complete the Board’s renewal process before 4:30 pm EDT on March 31, 2025. Please note that license expiration automatically terminates any and all current practice notifications.
Renewal Process
Complete and submit the online physician assistant renewal application. The Board strongly encourages early renewal to avoid unexpected problems or delays in renewal completion.
Renewal Fee
The Board’s renewal fee for physician assistants has not changed. The fee is $150.00.
Renewal Requirements / Information
Proof of West Virginia Controlled Substance Monitoring Program Database Registration - Physician assistants who have prescribed or dispensed any Schedule II, III, IV and/or V controlled substances pursuant to a West Virginia physician assistant license since April 1, 2023, must verify registration and access to the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s Controlled Substance Monitoring Program (CSMP) database by providing his/her date of CSMP access registration as it appears on his/her registration certificate that is issued by the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
NCCPA Status – While renewal applicants are required to report his/her NCCPA status, current NCCPA certification is not required for license renewal.
CME - Renewal applicants must successfully complete all required CME between April 1, 2023 and the date that a renewal application is submitted. The Board does not accept NCCPA certification as satisfactory proof of CME completion. Renewal applicants need to be familiar with current CME requirements to ensure successful completion and accurate attestation at renewal.
Practice Notification(s) - Successful license renewal will not affect any currently activated practice notification(s). However, license expiration automatically terminates any activated practice notification(s).

Complete renewal applications, accompanied by successful payments, must be received prior to 4:30 pm EDT on March 31, 2025 to avoid expiration.
There is no grace period if a license expires.
