License Renewal For Physicians Whose Last Names Begin With The Letters A Through L
Effective at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on June 30, 2024, all current licenses for physicians whose last names begin with the letters A through L (“A through L physicians”) will expire unless successfully renewed during the Board’s renewal period. Because there is no grace period for practice after expiration, the Board strongly encourages early renewal to avoid unexpected problems or delays in renewal completion.

Licensure
The West Virginia Board of Medicine is the sole authority for the issuance of licenses to practice medicine and surgery, to practice podiatry, and to practice as a physician assistant in collaboration with MDs and DPMs in the State of West Virginia, and is the regulatory and disciplinary body for medical doctors, podiatric physicians and their physician assistants.
