Physician Assistant Overview

On June 6, 2014, the Physician Assistant Practice Act and new emergency rule, 11 CSR 1B governing the licensing and regulation of physician assistants went into effect. The Act (240kb PDF) and Rule (99kb PDF) can be found on this website.

Under the new West Virginia law, a physician assistant must hold two documents in order to practice; a.) an active license, and b.) written notification from the Board authorizing practice pursuant to a Board approved practice agreement.

The practice agreement application can be found under the “application” section of our website. Please carefully read the instructions before completing the application. Please DO NOT delegate the responsibility of completing this application to an office manager or assistant.
