2019 Podiatric Physician Renewal

Effective at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDST) on June 30, 2019, all current licenses for podiatric physicians will expire unless successfully renewed during the Board’s renewal period.

On April 29, 2019, the Board mailed a renewal application to each podiatric physician.  License renewal ends promptly at 4:30 pm EDST on Friday, June 28, 2019.  Failure to renew by this deadline will result in licensure expiration.  Because there is no grace period for practice after expiration, the Board strongly encourages early renewal to avoid unexpected problems or delays in renewal completion.

To avoid expiration of a podiatric medical license, the Board must receive a completed paper renewal application with the licensee’s original, dated signature and the required renewal fee in the Board office prior to 4:30 pm on Friday, June 28, 2019.  Incomplete and/or illegible applications will be returned and will delay the renewal process.  The Board has published Frequently Asked Questions about renewal concerns.

The Board’s renewal fee for podiatric physicians has not changed:

ACTIVE LICENSE - $400.00                        INACTIVE LICENSE - $150.00

ACTIVE status licensees may change their licensure status during renewal.  To change a licensure status from INACTIVE to ACTIVE, please contact the Board office in advance of renewal.

Renewal applicants must successfully complete all required CPE between July 1, 2017 and the date a renewal application is submitted.

Podiatric physicians who have prescribed or dispensed any Schedule II, III, and/or IV controlled substances pursuant to a West Virginia podiatric medical license since July 1, 2017, must verify registration and access to the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s Controlled Substance Monitoring Program (CSMP) database.  Renewal applicants must provide the date of CSMP registration as it appears on his or her certificate issued by the West Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
